Fix Zoning In Fairfax County - ALLOW CORNER STORES!
The Issue
FAIRFAX CO, VIRGINIA
Right outside of our nations capital, Fairfax County lacks something. It lacks proper zoning laws that allow for small businesses and corner stores to thrive. Our goal is to reform Fairfax County’s Zoning Laws to allow commercial additions and corner stores in residential neighborhoods.
Imagine being able to simply walk outside and easily buy fruits, veggies, candy, or even get a haircut; all within 10 minutes’ walk. Unfortunately, Fairfax County’s zoning laws actively prohibit commercial use buildings or corner stores in other words; to be built in residential neighborhoods.
Allowing corner stores in residential neighborhoods would improve walkability, provide easy access to errands, and offer a bigger variety of products and goods to choose from. They also heavily encourage small businesses to thrive in the region. So- together let’s persuade the County Board to reform zoning for good!
