Every day, countless students at the University of Arkansas struggle to make it to class on time because of the University's flawed parking system. This issue not only affects the student body, but also the campus staff as both parties face limited parking. 

The goal of this petition is to persuade the University of Arkansas Parking and Transit Services to fix the parking situation through reorganization of the current system.

One major source of the problem is that every year, the University takes larger incoming freshmen classes, with this year's being over 7000. Assuming that most freshmen brought a car with them, they would account for nearly half of the parking on campus. 

This is only amplified by the fact that the student body out numbers the amount of parking spots by over 3 to 1.

On campus freshmen students tend to utilize good parking spots that are close to the school but are shown to leave their car there for days at a time. This forces commuting students to have to find parking spots that are farther from campus. 

One student was quoted saying "I usually start trying to find parking around an hour before my class starts — which is ridiculous — and I usually don’t".

The proposed change is that the University of Arkansas Transit and Parking Services need to reorganize the student parking to move the freshmen who live on campus to the father lots (green lots) while letting the students who commute to campus park at the parking garages (blue lots) which are much closer to campus. 

This reorganization would allow for commuting students to get the closer parking and not have to worry about being late to class because of issues finding parking.
