Leonard and Sharon Gust are 32 year residents of Manitou Beach, MI. They are the third generation to work the farm, which is no longer workable due to the flooding caused by a blocked culvert running beneath Sandy Beach Rd. They have been fighting since the spring of 2005 to resolve the culvert at issue. Sandy Beach road is closed indefinitely and the original homestead is no longer habitable. Sharon and Leonard have lost too much. No one should be without running water and have the ability to care for their family taken away from them.

The Lenawee County Road and Drain Commissions were developed to maintain and resolve problems such as these. This case affects everyone who owns property or will own property in the future. If this kind of thing can happen to Leonard and Sharon it can just as easily happen to you and yours. Let's show our local governments that it's NOT OK to push us around.
