Fix The Reedy Fork Power Grid

Fix The Reedy Fork Power Grid
Why this petition matters

Members of the Reedy Fork community are suffering. In the span of just a couple of months, we have lost power at least four separate times for several hours. Most residential areas lose power maybe ONCE PER YEAR. Something has got to change.
With the sheer number of residents living here and the hefty price we pay for electricity, you would think there wouldn’t be any issues. Every time the power goes out, it is almost always the north/north east side of Reedy Fork that is affected and it is usually for 5+ hours. Sometimes even a whole day or two!
Did you know that many foods can spoil in a refrigerator with no power after just 3 hours? Many residents have babies who rely on things like breast milk that must be refrigerated; not to mention losing access to air conditioning or heat. $1000s of dollars of produce, dairy, and meat can get trashed in just a few short hours due to risk of bacteria growth.
You’d better be careful, a small gust of wind or a few ominous rain clouds could cut the power off for 8 hours. Or maybe a couple of loud thunder booms will shut the power down with no estimated time of it being fixed. You never know. There is never a legitimate reason as to why the power should go out as much as it does.
Something has got to change. The power grid that we are attached to just doesn’t make sense. Our section of the neighborhood gets cut off significantly more often and for longer stretches of time than any other surrounding area.
Please sign this petition so that the proper management will get in contact with Duke Energy to find us a valid solution. Hopefully it’s as easy as submitting a work order to Duke Energy to run another power line so we aren’t stuck in the same grid as all of the rural areas around us, as it seems they don’t get priority of repair when something like this happens. We’ve paid a lot of money to live here and we deserve better!
If nothing is to be done, then someone needs to be held accountable for the (lack of) electricity that is burning a hole in our wallets from loss of goods! We can’t keep living like this!
