The Issue

To all public officials in the United States of America:

Fix Gerrymandering by Letting Voters Choose Their Districts

Here is a way to do it by amending our Constitution.

If you do not like this way, then figure out a better way, but fix it.

Section 1. In each election for the House of Representatives nearest to the year of the counting of whole persons every ten years, voters in each voting precinct shall be asked to vote on the city or town or village with which they choose to elect the same member of that House in subsequent elections.

Section 2. This vote shall be respected by all states to the extent possible in apportionment of districts to elect members of the House of Representatives in subsequent elections.

Section 3. Only when density of population requires it may voters in the same county be divided into different districts.

Section 4. There must be one geometric point within each district from which a straight line can be drawn to no less than nine-tenths of the geographic area of the district.

Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
