Stand by for Easter tourist traffic jams on the Brown Mountain. This photo shows the most recent unrepaired landslip (December 2023) on the unsafe, unstable, unreliable Brown Mountain road - the vital link between Canberra, Cooma and the Monaro down to the Bega Valley and the Sapphire Coast. Neither is the landslip of February 2022 ( Yes - 2022! ) yet repaired, after 25 months.  Both landslips have restricted single-lane red light delays, made worse by "dumb" mobile traffic lights with fixed time intervals, whether or not traffic is waiting at the other end. Transport NSW has no firm timetable to fix the landslips, much less to ever upgrade one of the worst mountain pass roads in NSW.  And its Live Traffic NSW is still providing dangerously misleading advice to motorists that most of the 10kms of steeply winding road with a 60kms speed limit and double lines all the way is "fast." What a joke.
