Fix the Black Route KSU bus issue for safer and more convenient commuting
The Issue
Commute in Kennesaw, GA, has become a daily struggle for students living at The Blake apartments, especially when it involves taking the Black Route bus operated by Kennesaw State University (KSU). As someone who relies on this service, I've personally experienced and witnessed the challenges faced by students on this route: overcrowded buses, safety concerns, and frequent occurrences where the bus completely skips our stop or fails to arrive due to being at full capacity. The Black Route serves as a vital transportation link for students traveling between campus and nearby apartments, yet the ongoing issues with overcrowding and missed stops are unacceptable. The overcrowding on these buses not only makes for an uncomfortable ride but also poses significant safety risks, including increased chances of physical harm and violations of safety regulations concerning maximum bus capacity. One of the most troubling aspects is the frequent skipping of stops at high-demand areas such as The Blake. When buses are filled to capacity, they simply bypass our stop, leaving students stranded and impacting their ability to attend classes, participate in campus activities, and access essential services on time. This inconsistency in service reliability severely affects students' daily schedules and academic commitments. We urge Kennesaw State University to re-evaluate and improve the current system to address these issues promptly. Residents of the apartments on route pay to have access to the shuttles. This access has not always been available as we were promised. Potential solutions could include increasing the frequency of buses during peak times, adding additional buses to the Black Route, or modifying the route to better accommodate high-density stops like The Blake. Any improvement is improvement. Moreover, continuous assessment and adjustments based on passenger feedback should be implemented to ensure reliable and safe bus transportation for all students. Addressing this issue not only promotes safety and reliability in student transportation but also showcases the university’s commitment to providing a supportive and efficient environment for its students. By signing this petition, you are raising your voice to demand immediate action from KSU’s administration to fix the Black Route issues, thereby enhancing the quality of campus life for everyone involved. Sign this petition to advocate for a safer and more reliable Black Route bus service at Kennesaw State University.
