Within a few months, the Isle of Skye will start to get busier again. And the roads will be in more demand as a result. 

However, the roads are currently a mess. There are potholes all over and they never seem to get properly sorted. Many of these potholes are 5-6 inches deep or more. 

Sligachan to Dunvegan, Braes, Bernisdale, Edinbane, Geary, Waternish, Glendale and more are particularly bad. The majority of Skye's non trunk roads are in similar condition.

The defective roads are maintained by Highland council. There are occasional 'fixes' but they don't last long. More money needs to be spent on higher quality, and longer term, fixes that last longer than a few months. 

The state of these roads will already cause no end of damage costs, to vehicles, at the expense of the locals and visitors/tourists.

The roads are only going to deteriorate further during the winter season. This will cause more damage to vehicles as well as potential accidents.

This petition is in no way blaming the local road maintenance crews. They do the best they can with the resources available.

This petition is to urge those in charge to urgently organise the necessary repairs before someone - either local or tourist - is involved in a fatal accident.
