The Issue

For those of you like me, who have grown to love the Shrek franchise, you understand the iconic connection we have with the characters and their original design. Shrek, Donkey, and the rest of the gang have grown with us through their distinctive styles that are now etched in our hearts. However, new changes planned for Shrek 5 could rob us of this treasured familiarity.

The characters that many of us have identified with are undergoing major changes in their animation style and character models. They appear drastically different from their authentic, distinctive looks that won the hearts of millions of people worldwide. The characters we fell in love with seem like shadows of their past selves and, in the process, have lost the unique personalities that characterize them.

The original Shrek movie grossed nearly $500 million worldwide, confirming the universal love for the film's characters and their design (source: Box Office Mojo). By changing the animation style and character models, filmmakers risk losing the very essence that made the franchise a success.

We need to let the makers of Shrek 5 understand our attachment to the original character representation and the significance it holds. In order to preserve the unique charm of Shrek and his friends, we must speak up about retaining the original animation style and characters' models.

Join me in urging the makers of Shrek 5 to revive Shrek's original animation style and character models – let's keep the characters to their true, iconic form! Please, sign this petition.
