The traffic congestion on Saratoga Avenue has been increasing exponentially over the past few years, affecting school children, residents, neighbors  and all who commute through this vital vein of Saratoga.  This growing problem contributes to dangerous cut-though traffic, affects the safety of those walking or cycling on local streets, adding frustration among residents. It is imperative that the City of Saratoga develops and implements a comprehensive traffic plan.

According to a 2022 traffic study by the Santa Clara County Department of Transportation, Saratoga Avenue has become one of the most congested roadways during peak hours, with traffic levels often exceeding the road's designed capacity. Furthermore, the environmental impact cannot be overlooked, as idling vehicles contribute significantly to carbon emissions and decreased air quality. 

A detailed and forward-thinking traffic plan like school buses, VTA-run as Palo Alto and other neighboring towns have done,  synchronized traffic signals, better public transportation links, and improved infrastructure like protected bike lanes that supports physically active and healthier transportation modes such as cycling and walking.
