The Issue
Why This Petition Matters:
Roblox has become one of the most popular platforms in the world, bringing together millions of players, creators, and developers. But recently, the company has taken steps that threaten the very foundation of its community: automated AI moderation and unfair intellectual property (IP) policies.
These systems give Roblox unlimited control over accounts, creations, and money spent, with little transparency or accountability. Once you’re accused of a violation — even by mistake — everything you’ve built can be wiped away in seconds, and appeals almost always fail.
The Problems With AI Moderation:
Roblox has increasingly relied on AI to detect rule violations and enforce punishments. While automation may seem efficient, it has major flaws:
• False bans are common: AI cannot fully understand context, tone, or intent. Innocent players are regularly terminated for harmless actions or misunderstandings.
• No human review: Many appeals feel automated and impersonal. Players who pour their hearts into building games or communities are left pleading to a bot that doesn’t actually listen.
• Instant, permanent actions: Once AI decides your account is guilty, there’s no warning — it’s gone. Whether you spent $10 or $10,000, Roblox can erase it all in an instant.
And worst of all — it doesn’t even work. Hackers, scammers, and predators often slip through the cracks while innocent players get punished. Roblox is quick to permanently ban people for sharing a computer or network with a younger sibling, but countless bad actors are never caught. This means the people who need protecting most, especially children, are left vulnerable while families are unfairly penalized.
AI moderation should assist human moderators, not replace them. It’s unfair to let a machine decide the fate of someone’s years of work and investment.
Unfair IP Policies:
Roblox’s intellectual property (IP) rules give the company near-total ownership of what players create on the platform. This means:
• Roblox can remove or monetize creations without consent, even if you spent years building them.
• Players who innovate and make original games don’t truly own their work, despite being the reason Roblox thrives.
• When accounts are terminated, creators lose everything, including original IP that Roblox profits from.
This system discourages creativity and makes it clear that players are treated as replaceable, rather than valued partners.
Why Permanent Terminations Are Ludicrous:
The way Roblox handles permanent terminations is extremely harsh:
• Roblox can permanently delete your account without solid proof, often based on automatic systems.
• Once your account is gone, so is everything you’ve spent — money, Robux, game passes, and years of creative work.
• Appeals are rarely successful. Many players feel ignored, as if their case was never even reviewed by a human.
Imagine losing years of progress and thousands of dollars overnight, and the company you supported doesn’t even explain why. This isn’t just frustrating — it’s unethical.
To make matters worse, Roblox often treats families unfairly. If a younger sibling or family member gets banned, others who use the same device or network risk being permanently terminated for “ban evasion,” even if they’ve done nothing wrong. This shows how easily innocent players can get caught up in a broken system.
My Story:
My own account, Mincraftkingb, was permanently terminated for “ban evasion.”
The truth is, I briefly logged into another account on my device to help someone buy Robux. I was never trying to avoid enforcement or break the rules.
Despite spending years on my account — building games, contributing to the community, and investing a lot of money — Roblox erased it all instantly. My appeals were denied in minutes, with responses that felt automated.
I’ve done everything possible to explain the situation, but Roblox refuses to listen.
If this can happen to me, it can happen to any player.
What We Want:
We are calling on Roblox to:
1. End AI-only moderation — require human review before any permanent termination.
2. Overhaul the appeals system so players have a real chance to defend themselves.
3. Respect player IP rights by allowing creators to truly own their original work.
4. Provide transparency about bans, including specific evidence and reasoning.
5. Create fair policies that distinguish between malicious behavior and innocent family or shared device situations.
Why This Is Urgent:
Roblox’s current systems send a dangerous message:
“No matter how much you’ve built, spent, or contributed, we can take it all away without listening to you.”
If Roblox wants to continue growing, it must treat its players with fairness and respect. Innocent players deserve protection, families deserve understanding, and creators deserve ownership of their ideas.
