Fix Houston Avenue

Fix Houston Avenue
The Issue
On November 19, 2023, a speeding driver struck 36-year-old James Midkiff, who was riding his bike on Houston Avenue near Winter Street.
The driver fled the scene. James died three days later in the hospital.
The City of Houston is making some safety improvements on Houston Avenue, but the Houston Avenue Multimodal Improvements Project does not address the segment where James was fatally struck, nor does it include a safe right-of-way for people on bikes, even though the Houston Bike Plan calls for high-comfort bike lanes between Memorial Drive and Spring Street.
Mayor Turner and District H Council Member Cisneros are out of office at the end of December. Sign the petition and tell Houston's next mayor and District H City Council Member to address all of Houston Avenue, from where the bike lanes end north of Spring Street, all the way to Memorial Drive, and to make it safe for all users.
