Its “Reddit Day”, a year to the day that my whole “Earliest Easter Obsession” started, here is a breakdown of our campaign’s timeline:

  • ·      May 25th 2025 – Discovered the “infamous” Reddit post which made me want to celebrate Easter on March 22nd 2026!

  • ·      August 2025 – First learned about Orthodox Easter and started making a personalised 2026 calendar for my aunt and uncle including both my own and the “wrong” standard Easter dates

  • ·      September-October 2025 – Spent hundreds of pounds Christmas shopping and painstakingly converting undated “Busy Bee” birthday books into homemade 2026 diaries for friends and family

  • ·      December 25th 2025 – Received my Alice in Wonderland bedsheets and had a jazzy light show bath in the dark with Sanctuary Spa and Satsuma bubblebath as it was the first “Thursday Christmas” since 2014, my favourite part of my quadrennial Christmas bath cycle!

  • ·      early February 2026 – Started my Lenten fast and simultaneously started seeing “Easter on the wrong date” in shops/other locations!

  • ·      February 22nd – Celebrated my 33rd birthday and was exempt from my Lenten fast as the date luckily fell on a Sunday

  • ·      February 27th – Launched the campaign on my phone during a car ride to RHS Wisley Gardens and reached 5 signatures by the end of the day

  • ·      March 22nd – Celebrated Easter on a date NO church officially recognised, putting me in a majority of just 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of people!

  • ·      March 25th – Hit 100 signatures

  • ·      March 31st – Hit 120 signatures

  • ·      April 1st – Hit 125 signatures

  • ·      April 4th – Reached 135 signatures and watched the 1951 “disaster year” animated Disney Alice in Wonderland film

  • ·      April 5th – The dreaded date!  Staged an Alice in Wonderland “Un-Easter protest” by watching Johnny Depp’s 2010 earliest Orthodox Easter film and the apron video by Miranda Milner which helped me cope as well as my Alice in Wonderland bedsheets!

  • ·      April 7th – Surpassed 150 signatures

  • ·      April 13th – Hit 200 signatures on Orthodox Easter Monday

  • ·      April 18th – Hit 225 signatures and in celebration of hitting that milestone watched Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief because of its Greek theme and when it was released.

  • ·      April 25th – Reached 250 signatures on the latest possible date for Western Easter

  • ·      May 1st – Hit 260 signatures

  • ·      May 9th – Surpassed 300 signatures on the 43rd anniversary of the latest possible Orthodox Easter Monday

  • ·      May 19th – Exceeded 325 signatures

  • ·      May 22nd – Crossed 333 signatures (a third of a thousand signatures) exactly two months after my personal Easter celebration

  • ·      May 25th – Currently have over 345 signatures on Reddit Day today

  • ·      June 21st - Hope to reach 366 signatures by the summer solstice on 21st June (a nod to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief)

Although I am the one running this campaign, I am only doing half of the work and although most petitions on the government website need 100,000 signatures for a formal debate in parliament, I am urging my existing UK supporters to email local MPs IMMEDIATELY about the unfair Gregorian calendar Easter cycle that robs living Western Christians from experiencing their earliest possible Easter date – which is wholeheartedly why this petition exists and the reason why I celebrated Easter on March 22nd 2026! Petitions don’t need 100,000 signatures for supporters to write to MPs!

I am urging and demanding that all my existing supporters who have subscribed to my change.org update emails to immediately share this campaign on as many social media platforms as possible such as Nextdoor, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms and “chip-in” so we can therefore reach higher signature targets faster. Although I am incrementally aiming for a higher signature target each time I surpass one, I believe that the number of updates is just as (if not more important) than the total number of signatures because it shows the campaigner actively interacting with their supporters – I have seen petitions with over 1,000 signatures but very few updates.

While we have 17 years to force churches, prime ministers, presidents and so forth to officially fix Easter to March 22nd for a one-off occasion as I am no longer targeting the year 2037 for my proposed date shift, we have 9 years to implement bank holiday changes and formally recognise Orthodox Easter to prevent 2035 (the year I have explicitly flagged) from becoming the next UK “true disaster year” with currently NO accompanying bank holiday, retailers removing Easter treats from shelves and public venues ceasing all Easter activities without restarting them just for the later date. I have targeted 2035 not for a date change (March 22nd is a Thursday that year) but as the ABSOLUTE DEADLINE to force the UK government to redefine the Early May bank holiday as an “Orthodox Easter Monday” bank holiday, as the number of Orthodox Christians in the UK could double and we could have over a million residing in the country by then!

While it is not logical or feasible for parks and other public venues to continue running Easter events throughout the whole five-week period in large gap years like 2024; they can easily run activities for the Western date, temporarily pause egg hunts in the interim period then bring them back exclusively for the later Orthodox date – a very simple fix so Orthodox families aren’t literally “EGGScluded!

Just to clarify, my definition of a true “disaster year” is WHOLLY and 100% defined by the lack of recognition for Orthodox Easter specifically in the UK, and absolutely NOT my neurodivergent fixations like my 2026 “Easter on the wrong date” mental health crisis!

Although a negative experience overall with my Alice date anxiety, my date obsession has made me learn about the complete lack of formal recognition for Orthodox holidays in English-speaking countries and the difficulties they face in so-called “disaster years”.

This discovery has made this the secondary objective of this entire campaign so I’m advocating for better Orthodox holiday recognition (including Orthodox Christmas, a fixed feast which never coincides with the Western date not just Easter) and to prevent future “disaster years” in addition to the March 22nd date shift, which is the primary goal (hence the title of the campaign).

All my proposed solutions; such as retailers listing both Easter dates, an “Orthodox Easter Monday” bank holiday instead of the Early May one and outdoor venues restarting egg hunts/Easter trails just for the later Orthodox Easter weekend is concrete evidence that the real issue is the lack of recognition and NOT the date difference itself!

Since Orthodox Christmas (unlike Orthodox Easter) is a ‘fixed feast’ and never coincides with the Gregorian December 25th Christmas date, it needs to be recognised as a separate distinct celebration just like Diwali and Chinese Lunar New Year - retailers simply keeping Christmas cards, Christmas crackers, seasonal treats and other holiday items would also benefit devoted Protestant/Catholics celebrating the feast of the Epiphany (which falls on January 6th, the day before Orthodox Christmas) rather than immediately replacing them with Valentines Day chocolates!

Quite ironically, a few days ago, I did a short course at RHS Wisley Gardens (where I was going when I created the petition) and on my course I met someone named Alice who’s birthday ironically falls on the “2026 Alice date” (April 5th)!

If it were not for my date fixation, I never would have learned about Orthodox Easter, so that infamous Reddit post inadvertently made me learn about a MAJOR ISSUE in the English-speaking world that needs to be addressed, hence it has become the SECONDARY GOAL of my entire campaign – Albania doesn’t ever have “disaster years” like the UK does despite five-week date gaps because both Western and Orthodox Easter dates are officially recognised, meaning that:

The five-week gap itself really is NOT the problem!

The way Western society behaves during the five-week gap IS the problem!

While Orthodox Christians have an “unfair advantage” over Western Christians in seeing the earliest Easter dates, they simultaneously have an “unfair disadvantage” in missing out on Easter activities because Western countries deliberately refuse to acknowledge them – even calendar apps on smartphone devices like the one I deleted, by default, completely fails to display Orthodox holidays so this is evidence that this lack of recognition is blatantly obvious!

My ultimate goal is not a set total number of signatures (I recently won an unrelated petition with fewer than 2,000), but for the official date of Western Easter to be fixed to March 22nd at some point within the next 50 years (specifically either in 2043, 2054, or 2065) for a one-off special occasion so Western Christians can see an official March 22nd Easter before they die, just like the millions of Orthodox Christians walking this Earth have already done so back in 2010.

After reaching 366 signatures, my next immediate goal is 379 signatures as that is the total number of signatures the “Observance and Formal Recognition of Christian Orthodox Holidays” petition has, created during Orthodox Easter 2024.

Just to clarify - even is the April 12th date was advertised in UK shops in 2026, it would not have been a personal trigger for me because Orthodox Easter hit its earliest date just 16 years ago and its latest 43 years ago.

2025 and 2034 are also “mirror image” years, with the Western date on its sixth-latest date in 2025 with the Orthodox Easter one day earlier than its exact middle date. In 2034 the reverse happens, when Orthodox Easter falls on its sixth-earliest date with the Western Easter date one day later than it’s exact middle date (April 9th).

Opening up about some of my other neurodivergent fixations:

Although I have briefly talked about some of my past fixations, I want to expand a little bit more about some of them.

As a childhood I had an obsession with swimming pools because I imagined the deep end to be a high ceiling room (like under the main concourse at Waterloo station) and the shallow end to be like a low ceiling room.

I also created a “death gauge” to try and predict which order my biological grandparents were going to die based on age, infirmity and health (which failed of course)!

As well as the Great Western Main Line detour between the M4 J12 to J15 and M40 detour through Buckinghamshire to mimic Heathrow flight paths, I would ALSO force my father to do another detour from the M40 J6 near Stokenchurch to the M4 J12 at Theale to mimic the Heathrow approach route on Easterly Operations, passing through Watlington, Wallingford, and Goring before rejoining the M4 at J12.

When I used to watch flight paths, I used to notice that the specific flight between Heathrow to Aberdeen (ABZ) northbound would alternate between heading from Heathrow to Edinburgh as the crow flies then turning right towards ABZ during the week and would follow the A1 corridor and fly between A to B as the crow flies during the weekend (passing directly over York and Newcastle-upon-Tyne). The update image above shows this alternation.

The southbound path would head towards the Central Belt of Scotland then pass over the Lake District, the West Coast, Liverpool/North Wales then over Birmingham before flying directly over my M40 detour route into Heathrow.

During my early 20s, I had a strong interest in civil, nautical and astronomical twilight and I used this an analogy about growing up – primary school is civil twilight, secondary school is nautical twilight and college/university is astronomical twilight. I did not graduate uni until the age of 24, therefore my I was still in the “twilight of my childhood” until then. Only during the darkness do stars (qualifications) shine and recent clinical studies show that true astronomical darkness, adulthood, does not officially occur until about the age of 24/25.

At the age of 20 in 2013 (a fourth-latest Orthodox Easter date year), I was completely SHOCKED AND SURPRISED to learn that astronomical twilight last all night in June throughout the UK having never known or noticed it before and I reckon many UK supporters reading this petition update are completely oblivious to this fact and are only learning about it solely FROM MY PETITION UPDATE!

As well as being the culprit station where my Class 159 train phobia started back in the boring year of 2004, Wimbledon Station is also the main station where I heard the rail announcements during my Thursday weekly commute to Morden Hall Park for “Easter on the wrong date”!
