UK-based supporters, PLEASE CONTACT LOCAL MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT IMMEDIATELY!

I hope to reach 300 signatures by “Reddit Day”!

Now that we have officially exceeded 260 signatures threshold yesterday on 1st May and Awful April is behind me once and for all, I hope to keep the momentum going and reach 300 signatures by “Reddit Day” (25th May)!

It may be May, but this campaign is far from over. I acknowledge and understand that change.org is a private platform but I am demanding all my UK-based supporters to subscribe to my change.org emails and contact local MPs IMMEDIATELY to bring to light the “unfairness” of the Gregorian Easter cycle – seeing as Orthodox Christians got to see their earliest possible date just 16 years ago, and are set to see their second-earliest date two within the next 25 years, we need to act and CREATE PETITIONS/CAMPAIGNS now because it really isn’t fair that Western Christians will never see Easter earlier than the “too late” March 25th!!

Having said that, though, my story about celebrating Easter on Sunday 22nd March 2026 and my unique Lenten observance has been heard by over 260 people which has been a monumental achievement. Being a tiny minority of just 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 people (myself and my family) celebrating Easter on March 22nd 2026 without anybody else knowing about it made me feel helpless and was not a nice feeling, so simply by creating this petition I have been able to share my story without having to publish a new article, which we were considering!

I have now been able to go into shops without worry about seeing “Easter on the wrong date” so I feel my life is pretty much back to normal, though this campaign is certainly not over and we need to act together to make an official Gregorian March 22nd Easter a reality for our generation, just like it has been for the millions of Orthodox Christians who are still TOO YOUNG TO DRINK and the millions who got the chance to see both extremes (1983 and 2010) while they were still in their TWENTIES!

Although I envy the Orthodox community with regards to their extreme dates, the “complete and utter” lack of recognition in the “shameful seven” English-speaking countries itself is a serious MAJOR ISSUE that needs to be looked into, this is certainly not the first and certainly will not be the last petition about this issue - in May 2024, many similar change.org petitions to education and examination boards went viral about parents and pupils demanding time off school for Orthodox Easter without being penalised.

The “shameful seven” countries are:

1.     The United Kingdom (my home country)

2.     The Republic of Ireland

3.     The United States (origin country of many existing similar campaigns)

4.     Canada

5.     South Africa

6.     New Zealand

7.     Australia

Despite not having public holidays, the “shameful seven” English-speaking nations have taken great strides in recognising major non-Christian religious festivals such as Eid, Diwali, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah and Chinese New Year (in my local area there were EVEN supermarket treats and advertisements for Lunar New Year), but overall they acknowledge these festivals more than Orthodox/Coptic Christian holidays, which is not right!

There is even a Greek Orthodox church in my local borough of Kingston-upon-Thames near Kingston Hospital (St. George’s Greek Orthodox church on Borough Road), so this proves DAMNING EVIDENCE that Orthodox Christians do indeed live locally and there are many other Greek Orthodox churches across London alone, so ITS ABOUT TIME WE GREW UP and formally acknowledge the existing minority who needlessly struggle due to the lack of bank holidays and proper recognition!

The upcoming bank holiday, in my opinion, “should” have fallen on Monday 13th April (Orthodox Easter Monday), so by simply rescheduling the Early May bank holiday for Orthodox Easter Monday, this will prevent the difficulties that UK Orthodox Christians face in “disaster years” like 1983 and 2008 and as I always say, the five-week gap between Western and Orthodox Easter every few years really is not a problem at all, the REAL ISSUE is UK bank holiday misalignment, retailers clearing out unwanted Easter treats and venues prematurely ending Easter events once the Western date passes that makes years like 1983 and 2008 “disaster years” for UK Orthodox Christian residents!

Next year, 2027, does not qualify as a true “disaster year” despite a five-week gap between the two Easter dates because the Early May bank holiday happens to coincide with Orthodox Easter Monday, but the next “disaster year” with both a five-week gap (meaning retailers will have cleared out all Easter eggs/hot cross buns) and no accompanying bank holiday for Orthodox Easter Monday will be 2035 (nine years from now) when Orthodox Easter Monday falls the week before the Early May bank holiday, so hopefully we’ll have thousands of signatures by 2035 to prevent it from becoming a “disaster year”!

I strongly oppose and would LAUNCH A PETITION against a permanent, fixed unified date on a specific Sunday every year for all Christians because of my obsession with calendrical anomalies!

By creating this petition, I have documented my struggle with neurodiversity and I am confident that we can fix Easter Sunday to March 22nd in 2043/2054/2065 (it only needs to be moved back by one week, rather than two) and we can make Britain (and other English-speaking nations) a better place for our Orthodox residents.

Campaign progress, our signature and event journey:

  • ·      May 25th, 2025 – Discovered the infamous Reddit post
  • ·      December 25th 2025 – Received Alice in Wonderland bedsheets for Christmas
  • ·      February 22nd – Celebrated my 33rd birthday and was exempt from my Lenten fast as it was a Sunday
  • ·      February 27th – Petition created on my phone in the back seat of a car journey and hit 5 signatures later that same day
  • ·      March 1st (Mothering Sunday) – Surpassed 10 signatures

  • ·      March 25th – Officially hit 100 signatures
  • ·      April 1st – Raced past 125 signatures
  • ·      April 4th – Watched Alice in Wonderland (1951)
  • ·      April 5th – “Alice Day”, had a mega “meltdown” and watched Alice in Wonderland (2010 – earliest Orthodox year) as an anti-Easter protest because it was the “wrong” date!
  • ·      April 7th – Breached 150 signatures
  • ·      April 13th – Hit 200 signatures on Orthodox Easter Monday
  • ·      April 18th – Hit 225 signatures and watched Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (2010)
  • ·      April 25th – Hit the quarter-thousand milestone of 250 signatures on Western Easter’s latest date
  • ·      May 1st – Hit 260 signatures
  • ·      May 25th – Hope to hit 300 signatures on Reddit day!

Goals of the petition:

  • 1. To demand policymakers, prime ministers and churches to officially move Easter Sunday from the “too-late” March 29th to March 22nd in 2043, 2054 or 2065.

  • 2. To highlight the complete and utter lack of recognition for Orthodox and Coptic holidays in the UK and other six “shameful” English-speaking nations.

  • 3. To raise awareness and to educate the neurotypical population to understand just how difficult neurodivergent fixations can affect individuals on the spectrum.

  • 4. To share my very personal and unique story about celebrating Easter on Sunday March 22nd 2026 to the world, and to document that an unofficial Easter celebration really did take place on March 22nd 2026!

As mentioned in my previous update, I am a both a talented musician and aspiring horticulturist (having retrained in this field since COVID) - please share my very unique story about my Easter celebration with local MPs!

Seeing April 16th advertised in shops will not be a trigger in 2028 despite it being a “boring year” and thank you all for all your support and helping me through one of the most difficult times in my life, which has been just as difficult as a bereavement and I had online counselling sessions on Zoom every fortnight until 7th April (two days after the Alice date).
