I am writing this petition as a concerned resident of Redondo Beach, CA, For far too long, the intersection of Artesia and Rindge has been a hotbed of accidents and close calls, resulting in numerous fatalities. It is time for our city to take immediate action to fix the problems plaguing this intersection before more lives are lost.

As someone who lives parallel to this street, I have personally witnessed the devastating consequences of the dangerous conditions at Artesia and Rindge. Countless times I have heard screeching tires followed by heart-wrenching crashes that echo through our neighborhood. It is an ongoing nightmare that we cannot ignore any longer.

One major issue with this intersection is the congested backup that builds on the street. During peak hours, traffic becomes congested, causing frustration among drivers who are forced to wait for extended periods. This congestion not only leads to increased stress levels but also creates an environment prone to accidents as drivers become impatient and take unnecessary risks.

Another problem arises when a driver takes a left turn at this intersection while other drivers behind them attempt dangerous maneuvers by going around them. This reckless behavior puts everyone involved at risk - from pedestrians crossing the street to other motorists trying their best to navigate through traffic safely.

Furthermore, speeding on Artesia Street has turned many minor accidents into fatal tragedies. The lack of proper speed control measures along this stretch allows drivers with little regard for safety or others' lives to exceed legal limits consistently. We need effective speed reduction strategies implemented urgently before more innocent lives are lost due to preventable collisions.

To address these pressing concerns and make our community safer for all residents and visitors alike, we urge Redondo Beach City Council:

1) Conduct a comprehensive traffic study and infrastructural examination in collaboration with transportation experts and road planners.


2) Implement traffic calming measures such as speed bumps, increased signage, and visible crosswalks.


3) Improve the timing of traffic signals at this intersection to alleviate congestion during peak hours.


4) Increase police presence and enforcement in the area to discourage speeding and dangerous driving behaviors.
