19 days left to push for the 1.3 million signatures to get Repeal The Death Tax on the November 2024 ballot. With 22 million voters it is still possible if we create awareness. Post on Social Media. (See the latest by Penny.) Help us text/call/email. Secure a signing location. Do a press conference. We have 2 scheduled. SUBJECT: Fix Proposition 19 by Repeal the Death Tax
Background: In 1986 and 1996, California Legislature unanimously approved and through California voters passed Propositions 58 and 193 respectively, which enabled transfer of certain, limited property between parents/grandparents and children/grandchildren while keeping the tax bill the same. Prop 19 had a very deceptive title which misled voters and passed narrowly in 2020, resulting in unaffordable property taxes for many Californians because it took away the rights of parents/grandparents to transfer tax base to children/grandchildren. The new tax re-assessment will be based on a subjective market value. When 15% of Californians can afford to buy, Proposition 19 is forcing families to sell once affordable housing. Countless Californians are being forced to sell their family homes and businesses when parents pass away. Renters are being evicted when inheriting landlords cannot afford skyrocketed property taxes and must sell. This will negatively impact all future generations! We need to work together to Repeal this Death Tax! Petitions to Fix Prop 19 are available today. We need over 1 million signatures to get this on the 2024 ballot. We have less than 20 days to complete this very important task which will affect generations. Please sign the petition before 1/16/2024 at our San Francisco and East Bay locations or others across the State.
