Just off the call with the California Taxpayers Association Collaborative. Usually Scott Kaufman of HJTA joins us. Today it was Jon Coupal himself!
Jon said they filed the initiative yesterday. So stand by... it will be happening soon!
Per last night's Zoom I will ask HJTA'S legal team for more clarification. They have an attorney Jon says has kept them in the clear. He was proud to mention the one page at home printable petition. I expressed our concerns that many Seniors did not have printers at home. So I told him about our work around with libraries. He said we should find printers that can print as many for under $500! Last campaign that was my suggestion to have petitions printed in Counties or Cities as Distribution Centers. They said they didn't trust others as the format was unusual. When I saw the pages attached the way they were I concur things could have been botched... with 1 page it shouldn't be. Anyone willing to price out printers in your local area?
Things volunteers are doing and could use more assistance:
1.Marie is helping us to call last campaign's Distribution/Collection/Audit Centers to get them ready for RTDT 2.0.
2. Lilly and team are creating Neighborhood Database so we can get the word out easily. Can anyone else help them? Plan is email blast, call and have volunteer present FiX*Prop19 to Neighborhood.
3. Frank created a Google Group for Senators and will do one for Assemblymembers. Some people have already participated to let the Senators know how they feel. I suggest we do so again... and again... let them know like Seyarto said we will make it happen without their assistance the hard way. We would appreciate if they would help us sooner than later... They have to consider helping us if we hit 25% of required signatures. We did hit 25% but too late last campaign.
4. We need your stories. Some of you have seen the videos. Many have not. We can record you LIVE or do these if you want to stay anonymous:
This message was produced by volunteers to educate the public about the negative effects of Proposition 19. For more information go to ForCalifornians.com
5. We need everyone to post on Social Media to create awareness. Unfortunately, it isn't a switch we can turn on or off when the initiative is released. We need to educate and grow awareness NOW. We need to grow our Volunteerbase NOW. The training last evening covered Facebook outreach and how we can reach thousands of people within a single Group Post. I know it is vacation time for many, but please drop in to the weekly Zoom meetings if you can to learn a tip or trick.
I still need 50 people to go LIVE. Please subscribe.

There will be a lot of initiatives on the 2024 November ballot.
1. The Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act. That is supposed to stop a lot of bad tax policy from proceeding. If it were in place Proposition 19 would not have passed.
2. The Legislators are trying to get rid of the Board of Equalization. The BOE is supposed to make sure all property tax is administered fairly across Counties. They are our Taxpayer Advocate... please make sure they continue to exist.
3. They talked about the Utilities charges based on income versus cost of service being a violation of The Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act. We also addressed how it is counter incentive to our conservation goals.
4. They talked about how everyone attacks Proposition 13 for taking away money from the schools. This is illusory effect. Ed-data.org was a resource given. Remember 41% of our State Budget goes to schools!
Before people arrived people were talking about transportation as all our agencies are upside down.
Some talked about local initiatives. Join your local Taxpayers Association. We need to rebuild so we have people informing us of bad policy like Proposition 19.
Thank you everyone!
Gina, a very active volunteer! :)
