As you probably have heard by now, Proposition 19, passed in California’s last election, had a hidden section that is extremely damaging to any property owner, business owner, or renter.  There is a bill being brought forward to overturn this “Death Tax” - but it will take 2/3rds of our CA legislature to even bring SCA-4 to a vote of the people.  

It is EXTREMELY VITAL that you understand how this dangerous part of Prop 19 will damage your children’s inheritance, and also damage anyone who rents in California.  For renters, when their apartment, home, etc. is forced into reassessment under Prop 19, their rent will climb dramatically - most likely out of their budget.  This impacts renters from college students all the way through the elderly in care facilities.  Many who inherit their family home upon the death of a parent, will not be able to afford the multiple times increase of property tax - forcing the sale of their family home.
