I've requested a replacement trash bin five times over the past nine months. My current bin is missing wheels, has no lid, and has a hole, which makes it unsanitary and unreliable for waste disposal. Unfortunately, I'm not alone; residents across our city are facing the same issue. Trash bins are broken regularly due to the rough handling by garbage trucks, and when they break, the city charges for replacements and often takes months—even over a year—to deliver them.

The reality is that waiting for months without a proper trash bin is not only inconvenient but also poses serious health risks. Overflowing garbage can attract pests and contribute to environmental pollution. Yet, when we approach City Hall regarding this matter, we continuously encounter excuses and delays.

It is unacceptable for residents to endure long wait times for a basic public service, especially when these bins are essential for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our neighbourhoods.

We propose that the city revises its policy for replacing damaged trash bins to ensure quicker delivery times and reassess the fee structure for replacements so that residents aren't financially burdened for issues beyond their control. Additionally, the garbage trucks must handle these bins more responsibly to prevent further damage.

Let's call for transparency and accountability from our city's waste management department. It's time for an improvement in services that directly impact our quality of life. We urge our city leaders to understand the struggles we face and to take immediate action.
