The young woman in this case paid a price that no child should ever have to pay.

Her artwork shows everything the justice system often overlooks: the trauma, the fear, the self-harm, the isolation, the loss of family and identity, the damage that follows her long after anyone stops talking about the case.

People say, “He’s put away — you should be happy now.”

But they do not see that the harm didn’t end when he was charged.

The consequences of his actions will affect her entire life, while the system now considers a five-year sentence — with the possibility of serving barely two — as “enough.”

It is not enough. Not for what was done to a minor. Not for what she has endured. Not for the years stolen from her childhood.
