This petition highlights a serious concern regarding the cancellation of the 589 bus between Rochdale - Todmorden - Burnley.
At present First bus service runs two buses each hour between Todmorden and Burnley, 10 past and 20 to the hour. From December 8th these buses will be cut to just the 10 past the hour bus.

My daughter uses this bus service daily along with many other students to attend College in Burnley. Many times the buses have left young vulnerable students, including school age children, at bus stops between Todmorden and Burnley due to the bus being at maximum capacity. When this service is reduced to one bus per hour the impact on the amount of vulnerable minors that are going to be left at bus stops will only result in numbers becoming higher.

As a result of the cut in buses many parents may have to change their working hours to take their children to schools/ college in Burnley to ensure their safety. This will then impact onto the environment with many cars making four extra journeys per day five times a week multiplied by the many students affected by this cut.

The cut in buses also means Todmorden will be less accessible for people to visit. This could impact the local businesses with people opting to shop at more accessible areas.
