Pay Parity for FDNY EMS.

The Issue

While you sit at home and thank Nurses, Doctors and First Responders for being on the frontlines of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Think about this:

Not only are FDNY EMT’s and Paramedics risking their lives and their family’s lives to help the people of New York, their salaries are criminally low in comparison to other First Responders in New York City.

Furthermore, FDNY EMT’s and Paramedics are being paid a fraction of the salaries in comparison to those performing the same career in NYC’s “sister-cities” such as  Boston and Philadelphia.

Here’s the stats for comparison purposes:

NYC EMS vs Boston EMS: (BLS EMT)

First year EMT’s in NYC are paid $35,000 vs $57,000 salary for a first year Boston EMT.

Fifth year “top pay” EMT salary $50,000 in NYC vs $89,000 in Boston.

Boston pays its EMT’s 2% less than their Police Officers.

NYC pays its EMT’s 58% less than NYC Police Officers, on average.

While FDNY EMS is going to do their job regardless every day-over 6,000+ calls per day-it’s about time they are rewarded for their sacrifices. Please sign this petition in order to create a movement to increase salary for FDNY EMS.
