Save Our 49 Bus Service

Save Our 49 Bus Service
The Issue
As a local Elected Member, I was recently informed of First Glasgow's intention to withdraw the 49 bus from our local communities. This service is vital to our local communities, including South Park Village, Priesthill, Pollok and Govan.
Currently the 49 bus is an hourly service which is unacceptable as it is, notwithstanding First Glasgow's decision to remove this service completely.
This service is used by a number of residents to attend their local shopping areas such as Govan arcade and Silverburn and it also provides an interlink exchange to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The communities of Greater Pollok have a high population of elderly residents and low car ownership: removing such a vital service will increase isolation.
While First Glasgow focus on their profits, they must also to listen to their customers and respect their views.
We call on First Glasgow to revoke their decision and improve the service.
