Why this petition matters

Started by Jamie Dunn

We are seeing an increase, certainly through main stream media or high profile sport more life threatening incidents occurring. Christian Eriksen's horrific collapse at Euro 2020 was seen by many of us but also seen by many young adults and children too.

CPR and First aid training were being mentioned as a possible addition to UK school curriculums just prior to Theresa May leaving office as PM. Since it seems little has been done and it has been left to local council's to provide for their communities and schools themselves in order to raise awareness and/or funds to supply general training or to supply defibrillators.

This can not be right in an economy which sits within the worlds top ten. Schools don't just hold our young generations, they have staff, parents and grandparents alike who may need this life saving help at any time.

In Dorset, some schools have been working with the British Red Cross in order for them to facilitate classes at no charge to the school during school hours but this could be done by any training provider of which there are many who can assist their local communities. I have been working closely with the BRC on this and continue to campaign on this very important issue.

The Department of Education has the ability to make this vital training, which many have thought is only for adults, a reality in our schools and stop them having to find ways and usually resources to be able to help our young children learn what actually should have been taught in our schools for many years.
