Fireworks should be fun, not frightening

Fireworks should be fun, not frightening
The Issue
Every year millions of wild animals, livestock and domestic pets are terrorised by deafeningly loud fireworks that cause distress, physical harm and even death. In addition, neuro-divergent people, the elderly and those suffering from PTSD are likewise subjected to them, leaving many dreading certain times of the year
There is currently a Private Members Bill sponsored by Judith Cummins, deputy speaker of the House of Commons and Labour MP, that proposes a reduction in noise levels to 90 decibels (as loud as a lawnmower apparently). The current legal level is 120 decibels for fireworks any of us can buy (as loud as a rock concert, or a 737 taking off). If this Bill were to succeed it would bring immediate relief to many millions of people and animals in the UK, without impacting anyone's fun.
We need to act now if we want to see this Bill enacted. If we don't we risk leaving millions of people fearing for themselves and their animals every November, New Year or any other time someone decides to let deafening fireworks off near their homes. So please add your name and let's see if we can stop the unnecessary fear and trauma suffered every year by so many people, pets and wildlife. Thank you so much for reading
