UPDATE - Letters addressed to Jessica Underberg CEO, 5600 McKinley Pkwy, Hamburg NY 14075 will be shared with the Erie Country Fair Board (according to the receptionist). As of March 28, the Erie Country Fair Board has not responded to numerous phone calls and emails requesting a meeting to discuss how to safely reinstate the parades. Some suggestions to improve safety and liability include 1) Limit items that can be brought into Fairgrounds  2) Have parades and reserve space in parking lots for tailgate 3) Hold both Firefighters’ and Veterans’ parades together to save on cost. Please continue to peacefully and respectfully voice your displeasure to the Erie Country Fair Board at 716-649-3900, frontdesk@ecfair.org .If the Fair Board refuses a meeting, additional actions will be taken to voice these concerns. The Erie County Agricultural Society board has cancelled the annual Firefighters' and Veteran's day parades at the 2022 Erie County Fair. This is hugely disrespectful to our first responders. If they were so concerned about safety and insurance, the Demolition Derby would be cancelled as well. The Fair claims they will honor our Firefighters and Veterans in other ways. But their offer of a $10 food voucher is not the same as seeing your family members honored in a celebratory parade. You are invited to sign this petition. Then peacefully and respectfully all Firefighters, Veterans, family members and fair-goers may choose to boycott the 2022 Erie Country Fair in protest. The hope is the decision to cancel these parades will be reversed.
