The issue

Many dedicated UNRWA employees in Lebanon have been unfairly dismissed solely because they expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people. These workers have devoted years of their lives to supporting the agency’s mission and the refugee community. Instead of being recognized for their commitment, they were punished for standing up for justice and human rights.

This unjust dismissal not only threatens their livelihoods but also sends a chilling message that supporting basic human dignity can cost people their jobs. It breaks families’ stability, undermines morale among remaining staff, and weakens the agency’s ability to serve vulnerable refugees.

By reinstating these employees and ensuring that freedom of expression and solidarity are respected, UNRWA will restore justice and uphold the principles it stands for. This change will protect the rights of workers, support the Palestinian cause, and strengthen the community that depends on UNRWA’s services.
