The Issue

As a dedicated World of Warcraft (WoW) player, I have witnessed firsthand the impact Tom Ellis's leadership has had on the gaming experience we hold dear. Under his stewardship as the Senior Game Producer, we, the loyal player base, have faced numerous challenges and frustrations that have undermined the quality of the game we invest in both financially and emotionally.

Our community thrives on the smooth operation and consistency of WoW. We rely on the stability of live operations, the health of game realms, the integrity of the Classic version, the accessibility of beta features, and, critically, clear and effective communication from Blizzard Entertainment. Under Tom Ellis, these essential components have deteriorated.

One glaring issue has been the instability of beta environments. Players eager to test and enhance the game’s new features have repeatedly confronted a lack of access and untimely removals, unfairly affecting their experience and undermining their trust in the development team. Additionally, forced character-name changes have added unnecessary frustration, interrupting the player’s connection to the game’s immersive world.

This decline in quality and engagement is not just about bugs or minor grievances; it's about the fundamental trust between Blizzard and its player base—a relationship that should be nurtured and cherished. Instead, Tom Ellis's leadership has seen a series of repeated missteps that highlight a disconnect from what players both need and expect.

Therefore, it is both reasonable and necessary that Blizzard Entertainment and Microsoft reconsider Tom Ellis’s position as the Senior Game Producer. A change in leadership could recalibrate priorities, restore confidence and credibility, and ultimately improve the gaming experience we have long valued in World of Warcraft.

Such a decision would demonstrate to all paying consumers that their voices are heard, their experiences valued, and that Blizzard Entertainment is committed to maintaining the high standards for which it has been known.

I urge you to sign this petition to help us make World of Warcraft the best it can be by insisting on leadership that truly listens to and respects its players.“
