Fire Todd Pinion

Fire Todd Pinion
The Issue
We, the undersigned citizens of Decatur, Alabama, call for the immediate termination of Chief Todd Pinion as Chief of the Decatur Police Department. Chief Pinion's tenure has been marked by a lack of leadership, accountability, and a failure to uphold the standards expected of a police chief entrusted with serving and protecting this community.
Under Chief Pinion’s leadership:
Accountability and Integrity Have Been Abandoned: The Decatur Police Department has faced multiple instances of misconduct, including the killing of an innocent man, harassment, and targeting of civilians. These actions have eroded public trust and endangered the very community the department is sworn to protect.
Failure to Reform: Despite glaring issues within the department, Chief Pinion has failed to implement meaningful reforms to address systemic problems. Instead, his leadership has allowed a culture of intimidation and negligence to flourish.
Lack of Command Authority: Chief Pinion has demonstrated an inability to effectively lead his police officers, creating a dysfunctional and fractured department. A police chief who cannot hold their officers accountable or foster a culture of respect, professionalism, and transparency has no place leading a law enforcement agency.
Broken Trust with the Community: The relationship between the Decatur Police Department and the people it serves has deteriorated significantly under Chief Pinion’s leadership. The community deserves a chief who is committed to building trust, promoting fairness, and prioritizing public safety.
Decatur needs and deserves a police department that serves with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Chief Pinion has shown he is incapable of delivering these values. His continued tenure is a detriment to our community and a barrier to meaningful progress.
We demand that the City of Decatur take immediate action to remove Chief Todd Pinion from his position and replace him with a leader committed to restoring trust, ensuring justice, and rebuilding the Decatur Police Department to reflect the values of fairness, equity, and accountability that our city deserves.
