FIRE RUTGERS PROF. BRITTNEY COOPER

FIRE RUTGERS PROF. BRITTNEY COOPER
The Issue
A Rutgers University Professor of women’s and genders studies and Africana studies, Brittney Cooper has recently made appallingly racist and hateful remarks during a discussion session titled, “Unpacking the Attacks on Critical Race Theory”- the full video can be found by clicking the link here. These statements (regarding white people) include:
“I think that white people are committed to being villains in the aggregate”
“The thing I want to say to you is we gotta take these motherf*****s out, but I know- but like, we can’t say that, right?”. (Professor Cooper followed up on this comment saying that despite wanting white people to be "taken out", she does not believe in a “in a project of violence”, because she believes that black people's "souls suffer from that").
“White people’s birth rates are going down … because they literally cannot afford to put their children, newer generations, into the middle class … It’s super perverse, and also they kind of deserve it.”
along with many more.
We are demanding that Rutgers University immediately address this racist, hateful, dehumanizing, and inadmissible behavior and rhetoric. This constitutes a vile stain upon Rutgers’ reputation, a university which receives about 1/4th of its funding from New Jersey taxpayers. In line with Rutgers University’s attitude towards racial hate, is outrageous that Rutgers students should be expected to be subjected to transparently racist rhetoric by the Rutgers faculty. That such a person continues to be allowed to spread this hateful messaging at Rutgers is absolutely unacceptable. Nothing less than public renunciation of Professor Brittney Cooper and total termination of employment is in order.
To counter this outrageous racial hatred, it is vital that Rutgers University hears from the people what we think of this matter, including from Rutgers parents and families, Rutgers students, taxpayers, and anyone in the population concerned about such racism in American education.
