In September 2025, my life took a gut-wrenching turn when my son came home from school with a story that no parent should ever have to hear. He confided in me that his teacher, Mr. Blanton Harris, had shown pornographic materials on a classroom monitor during lessons at Ruth K. Broad Elementary School in Miami. Shockingly, this egregious conduct was not only observed by my son but also corroborated by six other students in his class.

Initially, justice seemed to prevail as Mr. Harris was removed from the school after the incident was thoroughly investigated. We believed that our children were finally safe from his inappropriate actions. However, much to our horror and disbelief, just a year later in September, Mr. Harris resurfaced at the same school,  as a history teacher. With the safety and sanity of our children hanging in balance, his return feels like a gross oversight.

The responsibility of an educator is to nurture and guide, not to expose students to harmful and inappropriate content. Mr. Harris's previous actions demonstrated that he lacks the judgment needed to fulfill this critical role. His presence in the school system is a direct threat to the well-being of the children who are placed under his care.

I am reaching out to every parent, teacher, and community member who values the safety and education of our children to support this cause. It's imperative that we take decisive action to protect our students from possible harm. Mr. Harris should be permanently relieved from his teaching duties at Ruth K. Broad Elementary School, ensuring a safe learning environment for all.
