Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison traded Luka Dončić to the Lakers for Anthony Davis and a 2029 Lakers first round pick in the middle of the night on February 2nd 2025. The trade didn't inform any players or coaches about this horrible decision that Nico Harrison made. Not only did he set back the Mavs for 10 years, but this trade had heavy criticism by NBA fans. It also destroyed Luka's legacy on the Mavs.

Luka was the heart and soul of the Mavericks franchise and was supposed to be the next Dirk Nowitzki of the franchise. GM Nico Harrison's argument of trading Dončić was that he had “conditioning issues” and couldn't play defense. Luka did not request a trade and the worst part of all was was that he stated “I want to retire as a Mav,” in a previous interview a few weeks before he got traded to the Lakers.

In the 2023-2024 NBA Season, Luka Dončić had a historic year averaging 33.9 PPG (1st in NBA), 9.8 Assists per game (2nd in NBA), 9.2 rebounds a game (15th in NBA), and 1.4 steals per game (10th in NBA). He made several records including the first player in NBA History with 6 straight games with a 30-point triple-double which is an NBA record! He also had 50 games with a 30 point effort breaking his own single season record of 44 in 2022-2023. Another record he made is also 32 games with a 35 point effort and 40 point efforts with 13 games. Luka recorded a Mavs franchise record of 21 games with a triple-doubles after recording his 77th game with a triple-double on April 9, 2024 at the Hornets where he scored 39 points, had 12 rebounds, and also recorded 10 assists in a 130-104 win. Lastly, he was a 4X player of the week and a 2X player of the month.

On April 9, 2025, Luka Dončić made his emotional return to Dallas and paid him a tribute before the game for all that he did with the Mavericks including leading them to the NBA Finals last year in 2024. He had his best game of the season by scoring 45 points, getting 8 rebounds, and making 6 assists! He went 16/28 from the field and 7/10 from 3 point range to add to his impressive performance against his former team in Dallas where the Lakers won 112-97. As expected, Nico Harrison got heckled by Mavericks fans when they chanted "Fire Nico" just 4 seconds into the game while LeBron James was shooting free throws. He tried to hide under the tunnel while they were chanting "Fire Nico" but he failed to do so and got even more heckled by the Mavericks faithful.

It is time for a change. Nico Harrison should be terminated for this shameful and atrocious decision to trade Luka for AD. Bring Luka back to Dallas where he belongs. Even his Dad roasted GM Harrison for the horrible trade and later that month, Dončić did a stare down at Nico Harrison for the trade to the Lakers on February 25th in LA where he scored 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists and recording a triple-double in a 107-99 win against his former team the Mavericks. Nico Harrison not only laughed in an interview, but he didn't consult Jason Kidd or Luka Dončić as well. Fire Nico Harrison and bring Luka back to Dallas where he belongs.
