Lloyd Long is the Assistant Principal at Salamanca High School and he shouldn't be. Lloyd Long has committed acts in the school that would get students kicked out and sent to other schools. Lloyd Long had an affair with a teacher in the school and was fired from his position as assistant principal of Seneca Intermediate School. Years later, Lloyd was rehired as the assistant principal for the Salamanca High School. Lloyd Long discriminates and singles out people who he believes fit into the social norm of "groups" in the school and treats them differently. People that Long believes he can relate to are treated as equal, but the people that seem to be struggling or maybe dealing with drug or substance abuse are treated as cattle and like they are a chore to Long. If he is fired, we believe a stress on students will be lifted. His rules make sense, but the way he enforces them doesn't.There is a 10 minute rule, meaning no student allowed out of the class in the first ten mintes. "What if we have to use the bathroom in the first ten minutes? What if we forget our devices, and then we're way behind on our work? Nobody wants to walk around all day carrying all the work for every class in their hands!" This is a statement from a discriminated student explaining that the 10 minute rule mixed with the no backpacks rule is a deadly combination. Too many tardies(late to class) equals a detention and as a person who has been subject to this rule I know that it is impossible to try to make it to class in 3 minutes(time in between classes) without a backpack and not forget anything. We believe if there is someone else in charge of student affairs, there may be some much needed change. Lloyd Long made a homophobic remark to a student, "What is that? Oh it's just a earbud. I thought you had your ear pierced. You don't want to get it in THAT ear. I can't talk about that though because of cancel culture." A direct quote from Lloyd Long blatantly saying that having a peircing to express yourself is gay or means homosexuality. Towards the end of an assembly he called, a concerned student stood up and voiced their opinion. They claimed that, although following the dress code, staff still look at their body parts disrespectfully. A normal response would sound something like "I understand your claim and I will look into it." Lloyd Long's response was to end the assembly and ignore their concern. Long does what he believes will make this school a "model" school but at the expense of no concern for student problems. If we do not see change, students will be subject to more discrimination and more blatant disrespect. If this petition reaches it's goal, the problems, and the community's support, will be brought to higher ups. Please support this cause.
