Pourquoi cette pétition est importante

Freya was killed by Frank Bakke-Jensen, the Norwegian fisheries director, on the 14th of August 2022.

Freya was an innocent 1-300 pound walrus who particularly enjoyed sunbathing in the Oslo fjord.

This appalling decision was apparently made to 'protect human life'.

But in reality, it's pure human incompetence. She deserved the right to live. She deserved the right to swim and rest on the seashores. It's her land !

If humans didn't build harbors and boats, she would have been able to find a peaceful spot to nap.

Humans are responsible for her demise.

Killing her was not the ethical choice.

  • She could have been relocated to a safer place.
  • The Norwegian authorities could have protected her by not allowing people to approach her, by giving fines and putting up barricades around the fjord.
  • They could have built a pontoon.

The Director of Fisheries should be fired for making a hasty decision and disregarding animal welfare.
