Fire DeLuca & Abdy. Demand justice & equality in film leadership roles

The Issue

I'm a passionate advocate for equality, and meritocracy in the film industry. It is incredibly frustrating to witness talented and qualified individuals being sidelined repeatedly, just so the same unqualified people, like Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy, can continue to recycle outdated and ineffective strategies from decades past. In this lightning-paced era, where innovation is crucial, these regressive methodologies simply don’t work anymore.

The Minecraft Movie and Sinners only found success largely due to their inherent appeal and star power, rather than any groundbreaking marketing execution by these executives. Literally anyone would have found success with The Minecraft movie and the 5th or so Ryan Coogler + Michael B. Jordan movie. Such movies are poised for success by virtue of their own merits, not because of outdated strategies from the 2000s that are woefully inadequate for the 2020s and beyond. 99% of the films Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy handled were failures, the 1% success rate is just the random chaos of the Universe as we Atheist will tell you, and we Atheist make up 60% of the World's population.

It’s a sad reflection of our industry that white privilege continues to perpetuate a cycle of favoritism that stifles true innovation and excellence. Just like the troubling dysfunction seen in the Trump administration, where unqualified individuals were handed positions of power, the film industry is suffering from the same systemic issues.

Amazon MGM’s decision not to hire them back signals a hopeful shift. They recognized the need for new strategies moving into 2026, with projects like Mercy and Masters of the Universe showing promise under fresh, forward-thinking leadership.

We cannot allow the film industry to stagnate under antiquated viewpoints. We must demand justice and equality in leadership roles, ensuring that opportunities are awarded based on merit, skill, and the ability to drive progress in an evolving global landscape.

Please join me in bringing attention to this crucial issue. Sign this petition to stand with me in demanding that film industry leadership honors innovation, and true meritocracy.
