Fire Dale Longenecker as Principal of Olathe South High School & Implement the 10 Demands
The Issue
Dale Longenecker is extremely unfit to run the Olathe South High school and proves time and time again that he is ineligible to do his job; this has been proven by his failure to address and take action against racial inequalities, violence, and hate speech. When Kirubel Solomon was being harassed by students because of his race, Dale Longenecker refused to help, simply saying that he was “in their prayers” and pressured Solomon not to speak out about it. When Solomon did speak out about it the students involved were given slap-on-the-wrist punishments; 2 of the 3 were given 10 days of Out Of School Suspension, while one was given only 3 days of Out Of School Suspension.
With a recent assembly, Dale Longenecker had all other Administrators apologize, and yet failed to apologize himself. Dale Longenecker had every Administrator (With the exception of Mr. Phil Simons) read a written apology that all administrators held in front of them and read. He then went on to shift the blame of the matter onto the students, saying that they quote, “the reporting of the incident is critical. There can’t be bystanders”. Dale Longenecker says this despite the fact that when the incident was reported, he did absolutely nothing to solve it.
By signing this petition, you are helping the Olathe South High school students by holding Dale Longenecker accountable for his failure to take action against racial terror and violence. By signing this petition, you are also agreeing to the implementation of the 10 Demands created by Black Student Solidarity Network.
We will no longer stand for Racial Inequity in our schools. The time is now to Fire Dale Longenecker.
