Dear Youtube and Google:

On July 4, 2019; your employee, Christopher Cukor stopped, interrogated, harassed and threatened an innocent African American man for merely waiting peacefully in the vicinity of  an upscale, San Francisco apartment building. All along, your employee traumatized his vulnerable young son who begged and pleaded with him to leave the man alone. Your employee doesn’t listen. Instead, your employee plays out the ubiquitous narrative that degrades and even kills Black men on an everyday basis. A narrative which asserts that each and every Black man in America is an innate danger to society and as such, should be stripped of dignity, stripped of respect, stripped of basic human rights and even stripped of life.  A narrative that cost the lives of Trayvon Martin, Philando Castile, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice and on that sunny, 4th of July morning, nearly cost the life of Wesly Michel, a humble Software Exec who just wanted to enjoy the holiday with a friend.

YouTube and Google, your employee’s reckless actions nearly killed an innocent Black man and psychologically scarred an underage child. Yet, he’s still on your payroll. Your employee’s actions are a crime in the state of California, yet he’s still on your payroll. YouTube and Google, you’re endorsing racial profiling and child abuse. This ain’t cute. Do something about it.
