Brian Kilmeade's broadcasting that we should "just kill" the mentally ill and homeless with "involuntary lethal injections" can not go unaccounted for. Fox News must fire him, publicly denounce his statements, and issue legitimate apologies to all those impacted by mental illness and by homelessness. There is no other acceptable recourse.

In addition to my own experiences with homelessness and housing insecurity due to disability, I have close family members who have struggled with both mental illness and homelessness. Appropriate mental health care is rarely easily accessible to those in need even when they seek it. I have seen family unable to receive proper care due to lack of insurance, lack of programs, lack of access to financial assistance, and the general lack of understanding about these illnesses and how to treat them. None of them deserve to be executed. Brian Kilmeade's comments were not some inadvertent slip of the tongue. He doubled down on it with "Just kill them." His "apology" is not adequate. Fox News is complicit in their silence. Just fire him!
