The Issue

My name is Roger Amador, and today I reach out with a heavy heart, seeking your support in a battle for justice—a battle not just for my beloved dog, Chanel, but for every pet owner who trusts their animals to the care of institutions that vow to protect them.

Chanel was not just a pet; she was a new member of my family. My whole family was excited to give her a loving home. From the moment I met her during our initial meet and greet at Miami Dade Animal Services (MDAS), her affectionate demeanor and obedience captured my heart. After completing the adoption process and paying the adoption fee, I was devastated when MDAS unjustly deemed Chanel dangerous and refused to release her to me, despite having previously agreed to let her come home.

MDAS insisted on spaying Chanel themselves, violating Dade County law, which entitles every adopter to choose their own veterinarian with a simple $100 deposit and a spay contract. The procedure at MDAS left her in excruciating pain, unable to rise from her kennel. When she instinctively growled in pain as they attempted to force her out, they labeled her a threat and tragically ended her life. This action was not only heartless but also illegal, as under Florida law, Chanel was legally mine the moment the adoption was finalized.

The individuals responsible include Director Annette Jose, Gilda Nuñez, Georgina Vargas, Tracy Bravo, Heather Keenan, Natalie Teresa Leon, Jodi Tuzinski, Maria Serrano, and Alejandra Duran, then falsified entries in Chanel's records after the adoption was complete to cover their tracks. This injustice cannot stand. Director Annette Jose must be fired for allowing this outrage to occur!

I created this petition to prevent such cruelty from happening to others. But I cannot do this alone. I am calling on you to join me in this fight by signing this petition.

By signing this petition, you will help secure justice for Chanel and safeguard the rights of all pets and their owners. Your support is not just a signature; it's a stand against injustice and a move towards a more compassionate world for our beloved animals.

Thank you for your compassion and support. Together, we can make a difference.
