The Issue

The signatures of this petition call for the removal or resignation of County Meath Councillor Alan Tobin. In recent days he has been responsible for the public signs erected regarding "Dangerous Breeds" of dogs. These dog breeds in question include: American Pit Bull Terrier Bull Mastiff Staffordshire Bull Terrier German Shepherd Japanese Akita Rhodesian Ridgeback Doberman Pinscher Rottweiler English Bull Terrier Japanese Tosa As many dog owners and enthusiasts throughout the country will know, any dog may be dangerous and may be capable of causing harm but the suggestions of Alan Tobin are highly stereotypical. These signs suggest that the listed "highly dangerous" breeds are more likely to cause harm than non-listed breeds with is an outrageous and inaccurate accusation. A dog should be judged individually and not by its breed like that of humans regarding race.
