Dear Senators McConnell and Thune,

We are writing to you as concerned citizens, deeply alarmed by the path you and your party have led this nation down. It has become painfully clear that your lust for power, greed, and control has resulted in the betrayal of our country, our democratic institutions, and the very values that have made America a beacon of hope for so many around the world.

Your continued efforts to consolidate power at all costs have undeniably contributed to the disintegration of the integrity of our political system. By enabling dangerous individuals and foreign adversaries, you have aided in the destruction of this nation’s trust in its own process. The truth is, you have sold out America to serve your own interests—at the expense of the American people, our future, and the world’s faith in our democracy.

One of the greatest threats to our nation has come from abroad. Russia, with its calculated interference, has actively worked to undermine our political process. You and many of your colleagues have sat idly by as Vladimir Putin’s regime and his allies, including Elon Musk, have sown disinformation and division in our country. Instead of standing up to these foreign forces, you have allowed them to manipulate our democratic system for their own gain. This is not only a failure of leadership; it is a grave betrayal of the values you have sworn to protect.

At home, the situation is no better. You have allowed individuals like Matt Gaetz—who is widely known to be a sexual predator—to hold positions of power in our government. If the Ethics Committee report truly exonerated him, it would have been made public by now. We know the truth. The fact that your party continues to support and defend a man who is under investigation for serious criminal behavior speaks volumes about your priorities. Appointing someone like Gaetz as our Attorney General would be a permanent and irreversible stain on this country—a stain that will likely contribute to its eventual downfall.

We demand that you reject the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is not a decision we take lightly, but the gravity of his public statements and behavior calls into serious question his qualifications to lead an agency tasked with safeguarding public health.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has consistently promoted dangerous, unfounded conspiracy theories about vaccines. His outspoken anti-vaccine stance has not only been thoroughly debunked by the scientific community but is also harmful to the health and safety of all Americans. In a time when we are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot afford to have a leader of HHS who spreads misinformation that could lead to more illness and loss of life. His record suggests that he is more interested in spreading fear and division than in protecting public health.

Furthermore, his past behavior raises even more alarming questions about his fitness for office. There are credible reports of Mr. Kennedy engaging in bizarre, erratic conduct, including a disturbing incident in which he reportedly strapped the head of a dead whale to the top of his car while transporting children. This kind of behavior is not just reckless—it suggests a lack of judgment and an inability to perform at the highest levels of leadership.

Additionally, his claims that a “worm” ate his brain further undermine his credibility and raise serious concerns about his mental fitness for such a critical role. Leadership at the Department of Health and Human Services demands a person of sound judgment, grounded in facts and science, not one who regularly engages in delusional, harmful rhetoric.

In light of these disturbing facts, we strongly believe that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is unfit to lead the HHS and should not be confirmed. We implore you to carefully consider the consequences of such a confirmation, both for public health and for the trust the American people place in their government.

Then there’s Tulsi Gabbard, someone whose ties to foreign actors and questionable affiliations are no secret. Her inclusion on a terrorist watch list should disqualify her from holding any significant position of power. If she were to be made Director of National Intelligence, foreign nations would cease to share critical intelligence with us, further compromising our national security.

And Pete Hegseth? As a Fox News pundit with limited military experience, his nomination for Secretary of Defense is not only a slap in the face to those who serve in uniform, but it also demonstrates your willingness to prioritize loyalty over competence. Hegseth’s known ties to white supremacy make his potential appointment even more dangerous. How can we expect someone with such a history to lead our military and defend the ideals of our country?

Your actions have played directly into the hands of those who wish to see America fail. Russia’s dream has always been to destroy us from within—by eroding our trust in our institutions and dividing us as a people. You have made this nightmare a reality. Your legacy will not be one of admiration. It will be one of disgrace, marked by your role in appointing unqualified, dangerous individuals to positions of power and influence—individuals who have or will soon engage in criminal behavior.

Now more than ever, we need leadership that stands on the side of America, not on the side of Vladimir Putin or the corrupt individuals he has helped empower. The GOP’s willingness to bend to the will of foreign autocrats, while disregarding the needs and welfare of the American people, is an affront to everything this country stands for.

It is not too late to change course. It is not too late to stand up for America and protect the integrity of our institutions. But every moment you delay in doing so brings us closer to a point of no return.

We implore you to reconsider your path, to choose the side of this country, and to put the interests of the American people above any foreign influence or personal gain. The future of our nation depends on the decisions you make in the coming days and years.
