A brown mixed-breed dog named Sunny was found near Cedar Drive and Maple Road in the Town of Maple Grove, Wisconsin, on July 15, 2026, with eight gunshot wounds, a broken leg, and other severe injuries.

 Veterinary staff at Specialized Veterinary Care of Shawano believe the abuse occurred two to four days before Sunny was discovered — meaning this dog lay suffering alone for days.

Sunny is alive. The Shawano County Humane Society is caring for him, and veterinary staff are working to stabilize him before further treatment. But the person or people responsible have not been identified.

 There are no known witnesses. No suspects. No accountability.

This cannot stand. Whoever shot Sunny eight times and left him to die must be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of Wisconsin law. Animal cruelty is a felony in this state — and the Shawano County Sheriff's Office must treat this case with the urgency it demands.
