The Issue

A video posted to Facebook is circulating across Ohio — and it's hard to watch. A man is seen picking up a large brick, hurling it at a brown dog lying on a porch stoop, then picking the brick up again and hitting the dog a second time.

The dog never gets up.

This happened on July 8 at the Wedgewood Village Apartments on Columbus's West Side. The dog has been removed from the residence and is now receiving veterinary care. Columbus Humane has opened an animal cruelty investigation — but the man in the video has not yet been identified or charged.

That has to change.

Columbus Humane has one of the strongest animal cruelty enforcement records in Ohio — a 90% conviction rate, 6,000 complaints investigated every year, and a team of commissioned agents trained to hold abusers accountable. We are calling on Columbus Humane and Franklin County prosecutors to identify the man in this video, pursue felony animal cruelty charges, and make sure he can never do this again.

What he did is not a misdemeanor moment. It is deliberate, repeated, and brutal — and it was caught on camera.

Sign this petition to demand the man in the Columbus brick video be identified, charged, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of Ohio law. Sign now.
