A video posted to Facebook is circulating across Ohio — and it's hard to watch. A man is seen picking up a large brick, hurling it at a brown dog lying on a porch stoop, then picking the brick up again and hitting the dog a second time.

The dog never gets up.

This happened on July 8 at the Wedgewood Village Apartments on Columbus's West Side. The dog has been removed from the residence and is now receiving veterinary care. Columbus Humane has opened an animal cruelty investigation — but the man in the video has not yet been identified or charged.

That has to change.

Columbus Humane has one of the strongest animal cruelty enforcement records in Ohio — a 90% conviction rate, 6,000 complaints investigated every year, and a team of commissioned agents trained to hold abusers accountable.
