After hurricane Helene and Milton, USFSP Residence Hall One (RHO) has been closed due to “water intrusion”. The repairs are estimated to take two weeks or more. The university has offered “Shelter” in an open ballroom with cots. Over 300 students live in RHO. No lockers or storage would be provided for students belongings. Students would have access to less than 15 showers on varying on-campus facilities.  Students have been refused full or partial compensation. 

According to the USF Oracle, in the past when USFSP housing has been unable to provide the contracted accomodation to students, they have partnered with nearby hotels. This was to ensure accommodation of equal or greater value. If such accommodation is unavailable due to the effects of Milton, this value  should be refunded  to students.
