I would like to bring your kind notice that the Government of India is implementing their decision of GST on various goods, including medicines and medical devices from 1st July, 2017. The GST rate on majority medicines and medical devices are in the range of 12% to 18%. This high amount of GST is increasing the cost burden on the ailing people of the country, which is totally contrary to statements of the Honorable Prime Minister for reduction of medicine prices.

Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives’ Associations of India (FMRAI) have been consistently pursuing to consider no taxes i.e. Zero GST on medicines and medical devices by which the ailing people and their families will get relief by reduction of medicine cost.

I request your good offices to urgently look into the matter and re-categorise all essential medicines and medical devices in the zero GST slab.
