Humanity is passing through its biggest challenge of modern times. Covid-19 crisis has threatened livelihoods of many not the least artists of Assam who have missed Bohag Bihu & likely to miss Bohagi Bedai, the seasonal earning period when most look forward to earning to pay back loans, discharge accumulated liabilities, and hopefully save for the year ahead.

Apart from this, social distancing has halted all means of earnings including TV, live entertainment & media. Media houses due to falling of advertising revenue have started reducing employees & contractual staff, halting engagement of artists, technicians, and shelving productions of entertainment programs.

The situation is turning very grave and 2020 might pass before livelihoods of the affected above are restored to sustainable levels. During the time of 'new normal,' our social responsibilities have increased manifold. Many are discharging them albeit silently. This appeal is to join our efforts together.

Let each one of us lend our helping hands to make an effort to prevent this from becoming an 'existential crisis' for our beloved artists and retrenched members of media.

We can enhance our effort in the following ways:

- By circulating this aid appeal to our contacts by calling/Whatsapp & through our social media presence. Contribute & garner contributions for artists, technicians, and journalists relief

- Sponsoring or generate sponsors for monthly rations of needy (will list ration kit and the amount needed to sponsor per aiding member).

- Donate liberally to the three associated organizations by fund transfer.

- On other ideas of aid, assistance & relief, members please share your thoughts. Thank you for reading.
