Fight for our fur babies. (Lola’s Cause)

The issue

Remembering Our Precious Lola Saying goodbye to our beloved fur baby was one of the hardest decisions we've ever made. Despite trying everything we could to save her, the financial burden became overwhelming. After an overnight stay and a plasma transfusion costing $4000 they thought would save her unfortunately was not the case. She suffered a seizure and would need more treatment. They told us there was more we could try to potentially save her but at minimum we were looking at another $6000. Our hearts ache with the knowledge that we couldn't do more for her. The day before I looked into my Lola's eyes and I promised her I would save her but I feel as though I have broken that promise. My promise to Lola now is to try and help other pet owners in our position that can’t afford to do whatever it takes to save their babies.

Dear fellow pet lovers,

We come together with heavy hearts, driven by the profound love we share for our fur babies, to advocate for a change that is long overdue. The cost of veterinary care has become a barrier for many pet owners, leading to difficult decisions and heartbreaking outcomes. We believe that our fur babies deserve the best possible care without financial hardships, just as any family member should.

Our beloved pets are not merely animals; they are our loyal companions, providing unwavering love, comfort, and companionship. For many of us, they are our children, and they deserve access to regular check-ups, preventive care, and life-saving treatments when needed.

Unfortunately, too many pet parents face the painful reality of not being able to afford essential medical care for their fur babies. This leads to delayed or neglected veterinary visits, which can have devastating consequences for their health and wellbeing.

We, the undersigned, strongly urge lawmakers, government agencies, and veterinary organizations to take action to make veterinary care more affordable and accessible for all pet owners. We propose the following measures:

Price Regulation: Introduce measures to regulate and control the cost of veterinary services, treatments, and medications, making them more affordable for pet owners.

Tax Incentives: Implement tax incentives or deductions for pet medical expenses, similar to those available for human medical expenses.

Public Veterinary Clinics: Establish public veterinary clinics or mobile units that provide affordable basic medical services and vaccinations to low-income pet owners.

Pet Insurance Incentives: Encourage and support the growth of affordable pet insurance options, ensuring that more pet owners can access financial assistance for veterinary care.

Veterinary Education and Awareness: Increase public awareness about the importance of regular veterinary check-ups and preventive care to promote responsible pet ownership.

Support for Nonprofits: Allocate resources to support nonprofit organisations that offer low-cost veterinary care to financially disadvantaged pet owners.

By coming together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless fur babies and their devoted families. Let's ensure that no pet owner has to face financial hardship when it comes to the health and wellbeing of their beloved furry friends.

Please sign this petition to show your support and join us in making affordable veterinary care a reality for all pet owners. Together, we can create a world where every fur baby receives the care they deserve, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.

Let's make a change and create a brighter, healthier future for our fur babies.
