FIFA: Release the Full Data for the Croatia–Portugal Offside Decision
The Issue
We, the undersigned football supporters, respectfully request that FIFA release the complete technical data related to the disallowed Croatian goal in the 103rd minute of the FIFA World Cup match between Croatia and Portugal.
According to the VAR decision, the goal was ruled out because Igor Matanović was determined to have made a touch on the ball before it reached Mario Pašalić, resulting in an offside offence. While FIFA presented a graphic indicating a detected touch, many supporters remain uncertain about the full sequence of events and the technical evidence used to reach the final decision.
In the interest of transparency and public confidence in football technology, we request the publication of:
-The complete ball-sensor timeline for the entire attacking sequence.
-All registered ball-contact events during the action.
-A synchronized presentation of sensor data and video footage.
-A technical explanation of how each contact was identified and verified.
-The VAR review materials used to confirm the offside decision.
This request is not intended to challenge the authority of the match officials or demand a change to the result. Its purpose is to promote transparency and allow supporters, analysts, and the wider football community to better understand how advanced officiating technology was applied in one of the most significant moments of the match.
Football is strongest when important decisions can be understood and independently examined by the public. We therefore ask FIFA to release the complete technical record of this incident.
