Fibro is Real: Tell insurance companies to recognize fibromyalgia as a disease

As a husband of a fibromyalgia survivor, I've seen just what fibromyalgia can do to a person and to a family. But, as amazing as it sounds to those of us affected by fibromyalgia, it is still not considered a real disease!

My name is John Obenchain and my mission:  Change this.  Prove fibromyalgia is real. That’s why I’ve come to Change.org.

I’m asking for everyone touched by fibromyalgia - whether you suffer directly, whether your friend or family member suffers, whether you care for one who suffers – to please sign my petition.

Your signature will help encourage the recognition of fibromyalgia as a legitimate disease, one that must be cured. One that insurance companies must recognize and cover ALL treatments, medications and supplements for.

Change.org petitions have inspired ground breaking changes.  Let’s use this power to change the way society views fibromyalgia. Let's show them #FibroIsReal.

I can’t do this alone – please help.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: insurance companies.
----------------

I am affected by fibromyalgia, either because I have it, a loved one has it, or someone in my family does.

An estimated 5 million people in the U.S. have fibromyalgia. Why is it not accepted as the devastating disease it is?

Many of those affected by fibromyalgia like myself have spent their life savings trying to find help. Why aren't medications, treatments and supplements covered for treatments?

I am asking you to PLEASE start asking questions of the medical community: why do many refuse to recognize fibromyalgia a disease?

It’s hard enough suffering, or watching loved ones suffer. But for there to be no acknowledgement, no cure and little awareness makes the pain seem illegitimate. That’s just wrong.

Please start asking questions. Please start covering the plight of people living with fibromyalgia.

Sincerely,
