The Issue

Concerned pet parents are always looking for the best way to make their pets safe. For many of these pet parents, a GPS dog collar sounds like a great idea. However, for pet parents using the Fi Smart Collar, this could not be further from the truth. Their collars have a steel metal clasp, but the tracker itself is held onto the collar by two tiny plastic pieces that can snap easily, or slip out of the tracker. This means, that even a small dog can pull the collar and have it come apart. When a dog collar pulls apart, the dog has the ability to take off. Now imagine all of the situations that come up that could cause a dog to pull on their collar while on leash. Think of all of the tragic outcomes that could happen because a once secure dog at the end of the leash is now loose. That’s what happened to me. My 25 lb dog pulled when another dog passed us on the street and he took off. Meaning, I couldn’t track him, and his tracking collar was the cause of the incident. I let their customer service team know that the product design could cause a lost pet, death of a pet, harm from lose dog to other pets etc, and their response was to simply send me another. Not fix this dangerous design. Let’s demand a safe product.
